WHY FOOD, CULTURE AND ME?

Finally, after a much thought I’m launching my new baby … Food, Culture and Me, because eating is everything.

This blog will write from Davao City about the what, the why, the where, with whom, the how and everything in between of eating. On an extra note, this blog will inscribe about how our culture influences the kind of food that we eat and how our food delineates our everyday lives.

Food is multidimensional, it is not just something we stuff our stomach, it is not just about texture, color, flavor, packaging or other palatability factors which consumers look for when making food choices, but food is also so value laden, that everything about how humans cook and eat we attach meanings to it not only according to health, religion, safety, socio-economic and even emotional factors, but moreso, we put emphasis on who can farm it, who can kill it, who can fish it, what utensils are used in cooking what? What time of the day the meal is eaten, if you dine on a table, who sits where? What order of food is served in, whether it should be serve hot or cold and who serves it. And on a bigger picture who dictates food trends, why is fast food industry a click? Are there still safe foods? These are just few of the many queries this blog will be tackling as we journey towards stuffing our stomachs and discovering the many facets of food and eating on this part of the world.

Glad to always hear from you. Thank you for dropping by.
