MY ‘GUSO’ SALAD
We call this locally ‘guso’ (gelatinous seaweed) we have quite an endless fresh supply of this bounty as people from the adjacent island, Samal farm this for export. Last night, we had this on our dinner table.
What you need:
¼ kilo of guso
2 pcs. Reg. size carrots, julliene
1 reg. size onion chopped
1 reg. size cucumber, striped
Thumb size ginger, chopped
1 reg. tomato, seed removed and chopped
1 cup ‘tuba’ vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
SVP to taste
How to do:
Cut into finger lengths the ‘gusto’, blanch with lukewarm water, drain. Toss all the ingredients except for the vinegar and the sugar.
Dissolve the sugar in vinegar while simmering, let cool then add to the tossed ingredients and you’re done….. And my guso salad…. Drum rolls….. tsarannnnnnnn.
