NOSTALGIA – PINOY POP RICE
When I went to do my usual Sunday self-declared day-off last week, I spotted this package on the grocery shelf, my initial thought was that, OMG, this thing still exist? I bought one pack and brought it home, to my surprise it was a hit, my kids just love the feeling of throwing it up the air and munch on it.
I can see myself in them, although I haven’t seen one tied on their school canteen stalls now, but during the heyday, as in my elementary years these rubber tied ice candy cellophanes filled with loose pop rice decorated manang’s make-shift stall just across our school gate, I remember it was.75cents per cellophane, what we do, we bit it with our teeth and then form a line just beside the road and in unison, heads up and shake the cellophane down, careful not to get choke, lol.
I when saw my children doing the same, it really brought me down memory lane thinking of those days, how can this be happening, seems like a Déjà vu.
But after all the pop rice tales, I got pissed off sweeping all those unfortunate ones that missed their mouths that scattered on the floor… haisst!
